Since November 1, 2015 Elsbeth Visser-Vogel and Jos de Kock have been involved in a research on the use of the Bible at primary schools.
This research has been initiated by Verus and is executed in cooperation with the CHE.
Research on the use of the Bible in education
Which practices have been developed on the use of the Bible in primary and secondary education? Which objectives do school leaders and teachers envisage for the use of the Bible in their curriculum? These and other questions are central in a new investigation on use of the Bible in education.
The research is carried out by the Christelijke Hogeschool Ede [Christian College of Tertiary Education Ede], the Protestant Theological University and Verus, under supervision of dr. Jan Marten Praamsma (CCTE, Academy of Theology and Teacher Training Program on Religion/View of life) and dr. Jos de Kock (PThU, Research center Youth, Church & Culture).
Reflection on the position of the Bible
The aim of the investigation is to elucidate the position of the Bible in education and to offer starting points for new practices around the use of the Bible. School leaders and teachers from primary and secondary education will be interviewed on this. The results may help schools reflect on the position of the Bible in their curriculum.
The research is supported financially by the Steunfonds Christelijk Onderwijs [Support Fund Christian Education] and Steunfonds Rijn-Delfland [Support Fund Rhine-Delfland].
